Dr. Nuzhat Ul Qayoom Qazi is an environmental scientist, mountaineer, and founder of the Himalayan Ecosystem Services Trust (HER Trust), with a specialization in Himalayan rivers, forests, and communities. Trained in Forestry (M.Sc.) and Forest Hydrology (Ph.D., FRI Dehradun, 2013; among the first in India), she has led work since 2006 on water scarcity, forest degradation, soil erosion, and climate risks, translating science into nature-based, community-led solutions. She has published in national and international journals and brings expedition experience from 50+ Himalayan field campaigns with strong safety and team leadership.
Her recognitions include the Women Scientist Award (WOS-A, India), IUFRO-SPDC Fellowship (Chile), OKP/NFP (Netherlands), APAFRI (Malaysia), ICIMOD Scholarship (Nepal), S.K. Seth Prize (Indian Forester), VLIR-UOS (Belgium), and SAP Award (South Korea).
